Our Catamaran

Live-aboard

We (Liz and Ray) live on our Tasman C35 sailing catamaran 'Blue Magic'.

We spent two years living onboard at Marina Mirage on the Gold Coast (Queensland, Australia). During that time we did two cruises to Sydney.

In February 2006 we left the Gold Coast for a year of cruising, although at that time we had planned to sail around the world (see below). Our first destination was Gosford (north of Sydney) where we spent 3 months anchored in front of our house. During that time we caught up with our family and friends.

In June 2006 we headed north, arriving at Yorkeys Knob (Cairns) in October 2006. Then we cruised south arriving back on the Gold Coast just before Christmas. We are now at Hope Island Marina where we are attending to business before we can resume our cruising.

For details of our cruising see our Cruising Log and for photos see Photos.

Brief Specifications

'Blue Magic' was built on the Gold Coast by International Cat Manufacturing (now in liquidation) (see Tasman C35 for more details) and launched in March, 2004. She is 10.7m in length and has two queen cabins, a double cabin, an extremely large bathroom with separate shower, an ensuite, and a bridgedeck saloon with a very practical up-galley. Twin diesel Volvo 29hp saildrives make this cat extremely manoeuvrable under engines. Volvo 3 blade folding props give greater speed under sail.

Round the World Cruise

We are/were planning to sail her on the world cruise (organised by Blue Water Rallies www.yachtrallies.co.uk) departing Cairns in August, 2006. For more information on our planned trip, see the World Rally section.
Latest news: We have deferred our world trip indefinately due to business reasons
